His name is Elder Tadeo

  Elder Haymore was an awesome companion. He speaks really good spanish, I connect with him really well, and he's a super hard worker. Some part of me already knew it was coming when the emergency transfers came in. I'm not totally used to the aspect of frequently changing companions, so I was pretty sad when I found out he was leaving. Nevertheless, I knew that the Lord knows what's best for me, and I looked forward to having a new friend. Little did I know that Elder Tadeo would be an equally awesome dude! He's from Monterrey Mexico, but he speaks english fluently. He's gonna avoid speaking in english though so I can learn even faster. One of the best things about Elder Tadeo is that he can connect to the people very well, and he is very good at teaching the gospel. I was nervous to have a new companion, but I honestly can't imagine having anyone else as my companion. I'm also sure that I'll get more accustomed to having transfers later in my mission.


  Sophia and Monserat got baptized! They come from a less-active family, but they have prepared diligently and have taken the name of Christ upon them. We should have more baptisms coming soon!

  Our mission president has challenged us to start over the Book of Mormon, marking things about the plan of salvation and how to make inspired questions. I absolutely love having an hour every day to dedicate to scripture study. Just forget everything else and dive in, just don't forget to take notes of spiritual promptings!

  The last few weeks I didn't find the time to write, but here I am today! A nice big email! I wrote this last week, but did not finish it, so I never sent it: " Rafa is an 11 year old kid whose family was less-active. When I arrived he had already been in teaching for a while, because he's a little bit slow to understand new concepts for his age. He also had expressed in the past a fear of going in the water in order to be baptized. The first lesson with him I didnt really know how to teach him in a way he could understand, but over the course of several lessons with him I found my own simple and clear way to teach and eventually he finished the lessons and was ready for baptism!   We had the baptism on saturday, my companion was going to baptize him, and everything was ready. Christmas

  I have had a great Christmas week. We have been doing plenty of finding, teaching, and baptizing. As we travel by combi, legs, or bus, the Lord has blessed us to encounter people to share the gospel with. As we teach in lessons, we are sure to hit hard that people need to do three things:  read  the Book of Mormon,  pray  to know of its truth, and  go to church . Those, and receiving the lessons, are the bare minimum requirements for baptism, but they are also essential steps in the Doctrine of Christ in order to grow spiritually. We all need to follow these steps.   Among the many people we have taught, Iram, Grecia, and Ernesto have been a pretty big focus. Despite it being difficult to get the signature for Ernesto to get baptized because their parents are in prison, it all worked out and we baptized them this last friday.  We got locked out of our apartment last night (christmas eve) because we left our keys inside and everyone's houses...

Final Week at CCM

  I have enough conversational Spanish that I want to go into the field now, despite how nice the training center is. We still had classes this week, but since we've covered all the basics of Spanish, this week has not been as busy.  Yesterday I went to the immigration center to get my yellow card so I can legally stay here for two years. The bus ride was crammed, but definitely still fun because of the interesting conversations, and foreign land just outside the window. When we arrived, I felt like I was properly in Mexico for the first time. I was standing on a sidewalk surrounded by Mexicans, and there was a man selling churros on the corner. The process in the immigration center wasn't very interesting, just standing in lines and waiting, but I talked to a Jewish french guy in one of the lines, and talked to some Norwegian dudes while I was sitting in a waiting area.
