Maria del Carmen
Hello friends and family! I am loving my mission, and can't imagine doing anything else with my life, but sometimes I just still can't believe that I'm really here in Mexico, doing what all my siblings did before me. I especially love being in lessons, testifying of Jesus Christ and the restored gospel. I can feel the spirit testifying of what I say. It's amazing what the Lord can do through such an imperfect servant. There are many people here ready to accept the gospel, our job is just to search, love, and baptize.
This week we had a zone conference, where President Montejo came to our zone, and we all met together. President taught about the importance of obedience, and that we have increased potential when we diligently work towards goals. I also had the opportunity to sing in an ensemble of missionaries in the conference. But I can't remember the name of the himn we sang right now.

We haven't had much contact with Alberto because he's working in Mexico city and doesn't have much time, but we'll stay in contact with him. We are also teaching a few inactive families because they have kids who are not baptized. I'll let ya'll know about some other people once we have more progress with them.
We had a baptism this week! Maria Del Carmen is a woman who came to know about the church because her son is a recent convert. Her son went on a mission soon after joining the church, and referred her to the other missionaries in Apizaco. It turned out that she actually lived in our area, so after teaching her all the lessons, the other Elders referred her to us to be baptized in our ward. She is a very bright, kind woman, and she was very excited for his baptism. Her son was able to attend the baptism over Zoom.
Yesterday (sunday), we attended church in Calpulalpan. Calpulalpan is our second area, and it is very far away. We have to take an hour of public transport in order to get there. There's plenty of missionary work to do there, but we can usually only travel there on Saturdays. We went there yesterday in order to coordinate with the bishop and get to know the people who are attending church but are not yet baptized. We now have some important lessons scheduled for the next time we visit.
Learning a language, especially this fast, is very difficult to fully describe. You realize things about the base of what language really is. The fact that combinations of sounds have such delicate meanings, and how they are are tied with cultural history and social norms. And yet, how similar all humans really are. We all experience the same emotions, and find a way to express them the same.
I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, and that prayerfully reading it is one of the best things you could possibly do for your spiritual progression. I also know that God will always require a little bit of faith from us. At times you may be a little uncertain, confused, doubtful, or discouraged, but he will always answer the prays of those who humbly turn to him. I testify of these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
